The Swedish gaming regulator, Spelinspektionen, has taken strict action against Betway Limited and Mandalorian Technologies Limited for violating bonus regulations.
Under the legislation, gambling companies operating in Scandinavia can only offer bonuses to customers once. However, Betway and Mandalorian were found to have repeatedly offered bonuses, which is a serious offence. As a result, Mandalorian has been fined SEK9m ($938,925), while Betway has been fined SEK5m.
In response to these violations, Spelinspektionen has contacted all companies under its jurisdiction to ensure they comply with legislation relating to bonuses. While some licensees showed compliance, further measures were deemed necessary by the Gaming Inspectorate. The legislation on one-time bonuses is aimed at protecting consumers and reducing the negative impacts of gambling.
It is important for companies to follow regulations to maintain the integrity of the gaming industry and to protect consumers. Spelinspektionen's actions demonstrate its commitment to upholding these regulations and ensuring that companies operate responsibly.
